District 33A candidate Nick Thomley
knocks on 1,000th door

June 3, 2008 – Minnetrista, MN - In this fast-paced world of blogging and instant messaging, Minnesota House of Representative’s candidate Nick Thomley is taking a page from the past in reaching out to potential voters in his district. As part of his grassroots campaign and as a personal goal, Thomley knocked on his 1,000th door in District 33A by the beginning of this month.

As Thomley walks from door-to-door, he brings his son, Mason, with him to share in the experience. “When I decided to run for State Representative, I didn’t want to sacrifice time away from my son. I’m hoping he’ll gain just a little understanding of what his dad has been spending so much time on lately.” Thomley said.

Thomley’s platform positions range from increasing support for alternative energy resources to improving the capability of mass transit in the metro area. He is also a strong advocate for affordable healthcare for every Minnesotan, and believes that the cost of healthcare, particularly for small businesses, is a major concern.  Beyond healthcare, Thomley has spoken out on the need to reduce other burdens placed on small businesses in Minnesota, including access to capital and taxes. “Entrepreneurs have the ability to change the world,” Thomley said. “We need to support those business owners who are creating jobs that remain in our community and drive our state’s economy.”

As a former United States Marine, Thomley is proud of his military service and  his strong family values. Thomley is the CEO and founder of Pinnacle Services, a human services organization dedicated to serving the needs of people with disabilities and seniors. He has served on a number of committees with local and state government as well as advocacy organizations. He lives with his wife, Angela, and son in Minnetrista, Minnesota.
